In the old cemetery located in the town centre, 20 persons of Polish origin - victims of World War II are buried. To this day, to the west of the centrally located chapel, between ten and twenty graves of former Polish forced labourers who died just before the end of the war and afterwards have survived. These can be found in Section No. VII. Polish citizens were also buried in Section No. XI. However, the graves that should be located there cannot now be found.
Right next to the central chapel, there are the graves of the German victims of the war and a memorial that commemorates them. The site is also marked by a small wall and a plaque that bears the following motto: ‘In memory of the Poles who died as victims of the National Socialist regime, far from their homeland. Their graves are our obligation to respect human rights and to become engaged for the sake of peace and understanding between countries.’
