Waldfriedhof

Cemetery description

The cemetery in Waldfriedhof holds two burial sites and memorials to forced labourers and other victims of World War II. In front of the cemetery of Soviet soldiers and forced labourers, there is a burial site marked by an obelisk that commemorates the victims.
Inside the cemetery one can find a grave site containing the remains of foreign forced labourers and the victims of an explosion that took place on 14 November 1944 in the Wasag plant that produced explosives. This event killed 94 persons. In front of the stone that bears an inscription commemorating the victims, there are plaques with the list of their names. The available information states that 18 Polish citizens are buried in this cemetery.
