Alter Friedhof

Cemetery description

In the Old Cemetery (Alter Friedhof) in Böblingen, the war graves can be found in two burial sections marked on the cemetery’s plan. The burial section known as Section K, located in the north-eastern part of the cemetery, holds the graves of several Polish and Soviet forced labourers. The 28 stone plaques, arranged in two rows, bear the names of the deceased. In Section E, located in the opposite south-western side of the cemetery, one can also find the war graves of children whose Polish parents stayed, after 1945, in Germany as so-called ‘displaced persons’. The majority of the 30 small plaques bear the names of the children who, in most of the cases, were born just after the war.
