Evangelischer Friedhof

Cemetery description

The Evangelical Cemetery in Grimma is the final resting place for several prisoners of war and forced labourers who had originated from various European countries. Most probably, the majority were employed in the local armaments plants. According to the information obtained from the cemetery’s administration, only citizens of the USSR, Poland and Hungary are buried here. Among the several graves of the victims from the USSR, marked by wooden crosses, stands a monument that bears the following text: ‘In memory of foreign soldiers that rest here.’
