The central part of the Bensberg cemetery in Bergisch Gladbach contains a terraced war graves cemetery. Here, 210 persons found their final resting place - mostly German soldiers who died in the local lazaret (field hospital) or fell in the Allied air raids or in battles against American troops. According to the data in possession of the German War Graves Commission, among those buried here are 28 Soviet, 5 Polish, 1 Belgian and 1 French citizen. All the graves are marked by identical gravestones. In the upper part of this burial site, there is a large stone cross, and the names of the victims can be found on cards inside a metal drawer. The burial site was arranged in this way in 1951, and its present-day state is very good.
