In the cemetery in Lemgo (Friedhof Rintelner Straße), one of the 6 war graves burial sections, Section No. III, is the final resting place for 42 foreign forced labourers, mostly from the former USSR. The deceased were forced labourers and prisoners of war employed in the area on local farms and in local industrial plants. Of these people, 12 were Polish citizens - their graves are marked by stone plaques with their names inscribed upon them.
The section is also marked by a black granite monument with the Red Star on it, commemorating the Soviet prisoners of war.
At the entrance to the section, the German War Graves Commission (Der Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge e. V.) has put up an information board containing some facts about the war graves in the cemeteries in Lemgo and a plan of the cemetery with the war graves burial sections marked on it.
